Dr. Jim Kelly Dentistry, a growing boutique style practice located in the heart of the beautiful Arcadia-Biltmore neighborhoods in Phoenix, is seeking a motivated, energetic, and empathetic Dental Assistant. This year, our Practice is celebrating it’s 10th Anniversary of serving Valley families. Our Practice’s Mission is to assist each and every one of its patients to achieve their most healthy, radiant smile. This Dental Assistant position is a great opportunity for growth for the right candidate as our Practice launches into its 2nd decade of continuous improvement and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Assist dentist during a variety of dental procedures, including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and oral surgery treatments, with a focus on four-handed dentistry techniques.
  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental instruments, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly in accordance with dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management policies.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), including dental x-ray and 3D scanner imaging, while adhering to HIPAA regulations and radiation safety protocols.
  • Manage patient records using Dentrix Ascend, document treatment details accurately in compliance with medical documentation standards.
  • Perform vital signs assessment and medical history updates to support comprehensive care for all patients.
  • Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical and dental records with integrity and professionalism.
  • Support the dental reception team by managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out processes, and answering general inquiries as a dental receptionist.
  • Ensure all clinical areas meet infection control standards through proper dental instrument processing, aseptic technique, and adherence to healthcare infection prevention policies.

Skills

  • Proficiency with Dentrix Ascend for efficient documentation and scheduling.
  • OSHA Compliance Trained.
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to general dentistry and specialized fields like prosthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery and dental implants.
  • Experience with dental sterilization procedures, infection prevention management, and healthcare infection control expertise.
  • Skilled in chairside assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry, dental instrument processing, and endodontics procedures.
  • Ability to operate diagnostic imaging equipment including X-ray machines, CAD/CAM, CEREC and 3D scanners safely and accurately.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members such as dental receptionists and other healthcare professionals.
  • Knowledge of medical coding practices for accurate billing and insurance claims related to dental services.
  • Impeccable attendance and punctuality is tantamount.
  • Must be a positive team player.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; college preferred.
  • X-Ray Certified.
  • Must have be a graduate of accredited dentist assisting program.
  • Commitment to CE for career development.
  • Effective verbal skills to communicate with patients and staff.
  • Ability to take detailed notes and document procedures.

Hours: 6:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday (38 hours a week)
