The City of Boise is looking for a skilled Industrial Electrician to support our Public Works utilities. In this role, you’ll troubleshoot, maintain, and repair complex industrial electrical and control systems that keep critical city infrastructure running safely and reliably. You'll work on motors, pumps, generators, PLCs, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, and other essential utility equipment. We're hiring for both our Lander Street and West Boise Water Renewal Facilities.
Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
- High school diploma or equivalent and
- 4 years of experience in an industrial plant, performing journey-level work installing, maintaining and conducting repairs on industrial electrical systems.
Licensing And Other Requirements
- Journey-level Electrician license issued by the State of Idaho.
- Valid state-issued driver's license.
- First Aid and CPR Certifications.

- City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Performs journey-level electrical work on industrial and commercial machinery including: troubleshooting; conducting repairs; and installing and maintaining electrical systems, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), motor control cabinets, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, generator backup systems, motors, panels, switchgear and related electrical components throughout wastewater facilities and other public works utilities.
Performs maintenance on all electrical systems and equipment within the industrial wastewater treatment plant facilities and other utilities. Assists with preventive maintenance procedures on instrumentation equipment.
Examines equipment to determine whether it requires repair or replacement. Assists in material and equipment selection for supply and inventory levels. Creates, updates and archives electrical prints and schematics. Participates in weekly safety meetings and training classes.
Performs industrial, commercial and standard electrical installations, repairs and maintenance to other city-owned facilities and equipment outside public works utilities.
Assists mechanics in maintaining and repairing wastewater valves, pumps and other process equipment and facilities. Leads and trains registered electrical apprentices on general assignments, proper electrical installations and safety procedures.
