Omega Paint & Body, a division of Nelson Mazda Tulsa, is looking for a dependable, hardworking Painter's Assistant to join our team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in quality work, and wants to be part of a fast-paced automotive reconditioning team.

Schedule

  • Monday through Friday
  • Report time no later than 8:00 AM each workday
  • Occasional Saturday shifts may be required to meet business demands
  • Earlier start times during the summer (as early as 5:30 AM) are expected to help beat the heat
  • Winter start times may vary based on weather conditions and daylight

Compensation

  • Starting Pay: $15.00 per hour
  • Full-time position averaging 40–45 hours per week

Responsibilities

The Painter's Assistant supports the Omega Paint & Body Painter with daily operations and helps ensure vehicles are prepared and completed efficiently.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare vehicles for paint by washing, cleaning, sanding, masking, and taping
  • Move vehicles between the paint area and dealership lot
  • Restock paint trailer supplies and communicate inventory needs
  • Assist the Sales and Service Departments with paint corrections and customer-related paint concerns
  • Clean and maintain painting tools, equipment, and work areas
  • Remove trash and maintain a clean, organized paint area
  • Communicate daily with the Nelson Inventory Team regarding vehicle reconditioning priorities
  • Assist the painter with additional duties as needed to support daily operations

Qualifications

  • Strong work ethic and dependable attendance
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to safely operate both manual and automatic transmission vehicles is preferred
  • Previous automotive, body shop, or paint preparation experience is a plus, but not required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors for the entire shift in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and rain
  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach throughout the workday
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Ability to push and pull equipment, tools, and vehicles as needed
  • Must be able to safely enter and exit vehicles repeatedly throughout the day
  • Ability to use hand tools, sanding equipment, and other automotive preparation tools
  • Must have sufficient vision, hearing, and manual dexterity to safely perform job duties
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, gloves, and eye protection, when necessary
