After 40 years, Flexaseal is continuing to grow with sales agents and distributors servicing over 50 countries. We are seeking a Manual Machinist and Maintenance Technician to join our Repairs Team!

The role of this position is to set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. Includes precision instrument makers who fabricate, modify, or repair mechanical instruments. May also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.

This is a night shift position - 2PM - 10:30PM with overtime opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Operating Machine or Equipment – Operate basic equipment and machines and carry out routine tasks
  • Operations Management – Carry out operational tasks by following established processes
  • Equipment Maintenance and Repair - Help to maintain (periodic maintenance) and repair equipment by carrying out preparations and providing assistance
  • Health, Safety, and Environment – Follow basic mandatory work instructions to safeguard the environment and the well-being of oneself and others
  • Operational Compliance – Follow a straightforward mandatory procedure to ensure that work is carried out to the required quality standards and/or to ensure adherence to external regulatory codes and internal codes of conduct
  • Precision Equipment Utilization – Interpret and use precision measuring equipment/instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, and depth gauges.
  • Instructions and Drawings – Ability to read and interpret blueprints and geometric tolerances
  • Internal Communications – Exchange information with people by having courteous interactions with them
  • Policy and procedures - Works with guidance to understand policies and procedures, while making sure they match organizational strategies and objectives
  • Operate saw, Deburr, Cleaning and other equipment as assigned
  • Maintains/Cleans working areas and equipment to Flexaseal requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Minimum of [5] years of experience as a machinist, with [3] years in HMLV (high-mix low-volume) production environment
  • Setting up and running manual mill and lathes
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes, materials, and tooling
  • Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings and technical specifications (GD&T)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Effective communication and leadership abilities
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards

Preferred Experience / Skills:

  • Verbal Communication – Uses clear and effective verbal communication skills to express ideas and request actions
  • Planning and Organizing – Works with guidance to plan, organize, and prioritize activities to efficiently meet business objectives
  • Health and Safety - Applies elementary concepts to manage and apply safe systems of work
  • Expertise required in machining 300-series stainless steel and other materials such as Hastelloy C276
  • Strong blueprint reading skills required
  • Personal commitment to quality workmanship, with an ability to assess and explain quality concern to others
  • Able to accurately and consistently follow detailed procedures in order
  • An eye for detail to check drawings, part numbers, and materials, and to correctly complete routers and other paperwork
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team, showing a professional attitude and a service-oriented mindset in a fast-paced, flexible environment
  • Demonstrated track record of reliable, on-time attendance, able to work overtime and weekends as required
  • Standing for long times required, repetitive arm motions, frequent lifting of 25 lbs with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to complete math problems quickly and accurately
  • High School diploma or equivalent

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
