Overview
A private family in Austin, Texas, is seeking an experienced Property Manager / Handyman to oversee the maintenance, operations, and day-to-day management of three private residences. This is a long-term, full-time position offering the opportunity to work closely with a well-established household and support the ongoing care of multiple properties throughout the Austin area.
The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, hands-on, and capable of independently managing property-related responsibilities while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, discretion, and service.
Properties
The position oversees three private residences in the Austin area ranging from approximately 3,500 to 10,000 square feet.
The family consists of six members, including four adult children who periodically visit the Austin residences. The household also has two dogs, and candidates should be comfortable working around pets.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a rotating schedule between all three Austin properties
- Conduct regular property inspections and walkthroughs to identify maintenance needs and ensure all residences are maintained to a high standard
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance, including basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general household repairs
- Coordinate and oversee vendors, contractors, and service providers, including obtaining bids and ensuring quality workmanship
- Serve as the primary on-site property contact when principals are in residence
- Maintain all homes in a guest-ready condition and proactively address issues before they arise
- Coordinate with Executive Assistants, household staff, and the family’s senior Property Manager overseeing the broader real estate portfolio
- Manage household inventories, supplies, equipment, and consumables across all properties
- Respond to maintenance emergencies and urgent property-related issues as needed
- Maintain records of completed maintenance, ongoing projects, vendor information, and service schedules
- Assist with seasonal property preparations, special projects, and household moves as requested
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of experience in property management, estate management, facilities management, or a skilled trades/handyman role
- Previous experience working within a private residence, luxury property, estate, or similar environment preferred
- Working knowledge of residential systems including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general maintenance
- Strong vendor management and project coordination experience
- Ability to prioritize multiple properties and responsibilities while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Professional, discreet, and service-oriented mindset
- Comfortable working around dogs
- Valid Texas driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and provide professional references

Schedule
Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
This position requires travel between three Austin-area residences throughout the week. Occasional availability outside normal business hours may be required to address urgent property-related matters.
Travel:
No regular out-of-state travel required. All properties are located within the Austin metropolitan area.
