Duties

This position is located with the Greater Los

Angeles Healthcare System located in Los Angeles, CA. Duties of this position

include, but are not limited to:

  • Determines workflow for timely performance of

assignments based on emergencies, known needs and delivery requirements;

  • Develops

or oversees the development of plans for storage and arrangement of stock in

accordance with agency regulations which determine the configuration setup,

movement, re-arrangement and traffic flow for a specific commodity or equipment

group such as general supplies, construction materials, medical supplies, high

value items, or electronic systems;

  • Verifies

the space and execution plans of materials handlers are on hand and conform to

established guidelines.

  • Consolidates

materials and provides maximum space utilization and protection of materials.

In hazardous materials storage areas, assigns work to individuals to ensure the

safe receipt, storage and movement of hazardous and toxic materials and

substances such as certain types of chemicals, or radioactive materials in

accordance with facility and regulatory requirements.

  • Adheres

to safe work practices, ensuring staff processes the delivery of materials

including hazardous, flammable, and temperature sensitive products, which also

includes the proper placement of items on shelves and pallets to ensure

adequate safeguards and access.

  • Ensures

Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and infections control

standards are maintained at all times.

  • Acts

as a communications conduit between higher level supervisors to pass along

priorities and resolves conflicting priorities among the warehouse's major segmented

areas.

  • Serves

as the senior leader of warehouse project teams involved in special projects

such as a warehouse conversion from manual to automated systems, relocating a

major commodity or equipment group, or setting up a new commodity group area.

  • Ensures

staff adheres to work priorities, project schedules and resources which may

include the operation of large warehouse perimeter vehicles such as cargo trucks,

stake trucks, and jumbo tugs.

Work Schedule: 7:00-3:30; 8:00-4:30 with periodic

weekend coverage and emergency call back, if necessary.

Qualifications

Your background must demonstrate the ability to do the work of the Materials Handler Supervisor without more than normal supervision. This includes experience in the oversight of one or more product lines in a large warehouse; planning the workload of subordinates; managing receipt and delivery of supplies and expendable and non-expendable equipment; ensuring timely and accurate processing of all inbound and outbound deliveries; appropriately affecting the flow of supplies and services for efficient operation of a large facility or medical center; planning and reviewing priorities to ensure the team has the needed supplies, equipment, and tools to operate on a daily basis;

and ensuring staff adheres to safe work practices in the receipt, storage, and delivery of materials and equipment. (Please be sure examples of your experience are listed in your Resume).

EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position.
