Role Description This is a part-time, on-site role based at Vella Brasserie in San Diego, CA, with opportunities to work as a Food Server, Busser, Cook, or Dishwasher depending on experience and interest. Food Servers greet guests, take orders, answer menu questions, deliver food and beverages, and ensure that guests have a pleasant dining experience. Bussers support the front-of-house team by clearing and resetting tables, refilling water, assisting with food running, and maintaining a clean dining area. Cooks prepare menu items according to recipes and standards, handle food safely, manage stations, and coordinate timing with other kitchen staff. Dishwashers clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment, help maintain kitchen cleanliness, and support the back-of-house team during busy service periods. All team members work together to uphold health and safety standards, maintain a clean environment, and provide courteous service to guests.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in food service, hospitality, or restaurant roles (server, busser, cook, or dishwasher) is preferred but not required; willingness to learn and take direction is essential.
  • Strong customer service skills, including clear communication, polite interaction with guests, and a commitment to providing a positive dining experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, stay organized, manage multiple tasks, and maintain attention to detail during busy periods.
  • Reliable attendance, punctuality, and the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Capacity to stand, walk, bend, lift, and carry items for extended periods, and to follow food safety and sanitation guidelines consistently.
  • Team-oriented mindset, respectful behavior toward colleagues and guests, and a focus on maintaining a clean, safe, and inclusive workplace.
