About the Role

Respiratory Therapist – Ventilator Support

The Respiratory Therapist Vent is a Field Clinician who delivers specialized respiratory care to ventilator dependent patients in home and alternate care settings. This role combines hands on patient care, education, and collaboration with physicians and care teams to support safe, coordinated, and high quality outcomes outside the hospital.

Core Responsibilities

  • Maintain and apply advanced knowledge of respiratory equipment, ventilators, HME products, and related payer and regulatory guidelines
  • Perform clinical assessments and reassessments, including review of ventilator patient records, compliance data, and care plans; communicate findings and recommendations to physicians and referral sources
  • Participate in discharge planning and execution for highly technical and ventilator dependent patients, ensuring smooth transitions to the home setting
  • Demonstrate and instruct patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals on ventilator units, supplies, and proper equipment use
  • Provide clinical follow up with physicians and referral sources regarding patient status and tolerance of therapy
  • Conduct clinical in services for hospital staff, referral sources, and other professionals on equipment and clinically related topics
  • Adhere to all patient confidentiality, HIPAA, PPE, infection control, and hazardous materials handling requirements
  • Accurately and timely document all patient care activities, assessments, procedures, communications, and outcomes in accordance with company standards
  • Maintain complete and up to date patient records, including prescriptions, plans of care, treatment plans, delivery tickets, and required checklists
  • Ensure documentation supports quality tracking, data trending, reimbursement, authorizations (including ventilator referrals), and regulatory compliance
  • Utilize continuing education, in services, and professional inquiry to maintain and expand role related competencies
  • Promote Adapt Health through program development, operational support, educational coordination, and engagement with referral sources
  • Act as a clinical resource, collaborating proactively with peers and interdisciplinary teams to resolve issues and optimize patient outcomes
  • Ensure accurate, clear, and timely verbal and written communication related to patient care and operational needs
  • Participate in on call rotation during non business hours in accordance with company policy
  • Complete all required compliance training and adhere to Adapt Health’s Compliance Program
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
