Kaʻōhao School is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and positive Office Assistant/Parent Community Networking Coordinator (PCNC) to join our team. This position plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the school while helping create a welcoming, caring, and efficient environment for students, families, faculty, staff, and visitors.

About the Position

The Office Assistant supports a variety of administrative, bookkeeping, human resources, and customer service functions that help ensure the smooth operation of our school. As one of the first points of contact for parents, students, staff, and community members, this individual serves as an ambassador for Kaʻōhao School and helps foster a warm and supportive atmosphere for everyone who enters our office.

  • Bookkeeping or accounting experience preferred

Office Assistant Primary Responsibilities :

Front Office & Customer Service

  • Welcome and assist students, parents, staff, and visitors
  • Provide excellent customer service and support to the school community
  • Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and direct requests appropriately
  • Help maintain a positive, professional, and efficient office environment

Human Resources Support

  • Daily responsibility with leave tracking, monitoring staff sign-in sheets and getting forms to administration for proper documentation
  • Check in subs (EA and teacher) and make sure they have the required information for their assignment (badge, awareness of safety/allergy, etc.)

Accounting & Bookkeeping

  • Primary contact for school field trip forms; collecting forms from teachers, ensuring private driver vehicle forms are filled out, collecting funds and submitting to school business manager, notifying the lunch program of field trips, etc.
  • Works with administration to help track fundraising programs for off island field trips (Washington D.C. and Big Island)

PCNC Primary Responsibilities :

Community Building

  • Point of contact and collaborator with Kaʻōhao School Ohana (KSO), and liaison between KSO and school administration
  • Helps to plan parent engagement opportunities; coffee hour, parent feedback meetings, movie night, etc.
  • Attends monthly board meetings to stay informed of board policies, discussions and community information

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range (Depends on experience and skills):

  • Account Clerk I, SR-06: $3,141.00 per month
  • Account Clerk II, SR-08: $3,266.00 per month
  • Account Clerk III, SR-11: $3,606.00 per month
  • Account Clerk IV, SR-13: $3,900.00 per month

Schedule

  • Full-time 12 month position
  • Standard school-year hours: 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Summer and break periods: 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
