Role and Responsibilities:
You will inspect, maintain, and repair diesel-powered waste collection vehicles and heavy-duty equipment to ensure safe and efficient fleet operations.
- Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot diesel garbage trucks and heavy-duty equipment
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance including oil changes, brake servicing, and tire repairs
- Repair engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical components
- Complete maintenance work orders and accurately document all repair activities
- Ensure all vehicles meet DOT safety standards and compliance requirements
- Follow company maintenance schedules and safety protocols
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Required Skills and Experience:
- Experience working with diesel engines and heavy equipment
- Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical systems
- Knowledge of hydraulic and brake systems
- Skilled in using hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and workshop machinery
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Understanding of DOT regulations and compliance requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- ASE certification or willingness to obtain certification
- Experience in fleet maintenance or heavy-duty truck repair
- Ability to work evening or overnight shifts when required
- Interest in advancing into lead mechanic or supervisory roles
Compensation and Benefits:
- Hourly pay ranging from $28 to $40 depending on experience and location
