Role and Responsibilities:

You will inspect, maintain, and repair diesel-powered waste collection vehicles and heavy-duty equipment to ensure safe and efficient fleet operations.

  • Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot diesel garbage trucks and heavy-duty equipment
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance including oil changes, brake servicing, and tire repairs
  • Repair engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical components
  • Complete maintenance work orders and accurately document all repair activities
  • Ensure all vehicles meet DOT safety standards and compliance requirements
  • Follow company maintenance schedules and safety protocols
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Experience working with diesel engines and heavy equipment
  • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical systems
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and brake systems
  • Skilled in using hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and workshop machinery
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Understanding of DOT regulations and compliance requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ASE certification or willingness to obtain certification
  • Experience in fleet maintenance or heavy-duty truck repair
  • Ability to work evening or overnight shifts when required
  • Interest in advancing into lead mechanic or supervisory roles

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Hourly pay ranging from $28 to $40 depending on experience and location
