About the Company
Our partner is a seed-stage, venture-backed education technology company building a data-driven platform in the college admissions ecosystem . The team is small, highly ambitious, and scaling quickly as their data volume grows at an exceptional rate—creating an opportunity for a strong operator to help bring structure, speed, and execution discipline to the business.
The Opportunity
Our partner is hiring a Chief of Staff to work directly with the CEO and own critical initiatives across the company. This is a high-impact, high-trust role for someone who thrives in ambiguity and wants meaningful responsibility early—helping drive hiring, operating cadence, cross-functional execution, and special projects across the hardest problems in the business.
Over time, this role has the potential to grow into broader operational leadership (e.g., COO-type scope) as the team scales.
Responsibilities
Serve as the CEO’s right-hand partner to drive execution on the company’s most important priorities
Own and scale core “Chief of Staff” functions, with room to expand scope as the company grows
Lead and support hiring, recruiting, and talent initiatives , helping build the team as the company scales
Act as liaison with external partners (e.g., legal counsel, advisors, vendors)
Operate as a “SWAT team” for the hardest cross-functional business problems—identify the issue, structure the plan, drive outcomes
Partner closely with the product team and help lead cross-functional initiatives that shape what gets built and why
Build operating rhythms, ownership, and accountability across a flat organization; help manage output and execution
Support key strategic workstreams where needed, including fundraising-related and market-facing initiatives
Requirements
2+ years of experience in a highly analytical / execution-oriented environment (e.g., consulting, investment banking, private equity, finance, business operations)
Strong preference for candidates with startup experience (or demonstrated ability to operate in fast-moving, resource-constrained environments)
Working fluency with the VC/fundraising ecosystem (no need for hand-holding on the basics)
Exceptional communication skills—clear, concise, and highly professional
High ownership, urgency, and bias-to-action; comfortable building structure where none exists
Ability to manage and coordinate work across multiple stakeholders; comfortable with direct reports as the team grows
Comfortable working onsite in NYC ; some travel a few times per year
Authorized to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship available)
