Base pay range $21.50/hr - $28.50/hr
Responsibilities Under the supervision of the pharmacist, assist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policy.
Utilize pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and verify medication accuracy; assist with scheduling and workflow as directed by the Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager.
Assist in maintaining compliance with the Pharmacy Code of Conduct and quality improvement programs; report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty.
Handle cash transactions as required and assist customers in locating products; answer non-technical phone calls as appropriate.
Support inventory management, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceuticals; assist with claims for damaged or missing items.
May assist pharmacists in clinical services, including specimen labeling and coordination with Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
Maintain goodwill with local medical communities through provider detailing and outreach to health groups and facilities.
Ensure the Pharmacy Department is stocked, clean, and orderly; adhere to company policies and maintain professional relationships with coworkers.
Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development Earns and maintains PTCB certification or meets state requirements; may be required to obtain PTCB certification as a condition of promotion to senior technician.
Attends trainings and completes continuing education as requested by management; maintains knowledge in healthcare and pharmacy trends.
Basic Qualifications PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico)
One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting
Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico)
Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (with some location exceptions)
Preferred Qualifications Prior experience with Walgreens preferred
Good math skills (counting, measuring, weighing)
Basic PC skills (computer use, file handling, printing, online access)
Knowledge of store inventory control
