Underground OSP Fiber Construction Project Manager
FTTH / FTTP – Florida
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Underground OSP Fiber Construction Project Manager to lead the execution of Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) and Fiber-to-the-Premises (FTTP) construction projects throughout Florida. This role is responsible for managing the complete lifecycle of underground fiber construction, from permitting and utility coordination through construction, restoration, testing, and project closeout.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience managing underground fiber deployment, directional boring operations, trenching, conduit placement, vault installation, restoration, and subcontractor management while ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with customer quality standards.Primary Responsibilities
- Manage multiple underground FTTH/FTTP construction projects across Florida.
- Lead all phases of underground fiber deployment from engineering handoff through customer acceptance.
- Coordinate daily activities with construction superintendents, field supervisors, subcontractors, inspectors, and customers.
- Develop and manage project schedules, production forecasts, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Track production quantities and construction milestones.
- Review engineering drawings, construction packages, utility records, and permit requirements.
- Coordinate utility locates (811), potholing, and conflict resolution.
- Manage directional boring, trenching, microtrenching (where applicable), conduit installation, handholes, vaults, pull boxes, and fiber placement.
- Coordinate restoration activities including sidewalks, driveways, landscaping, and roadway repairs.
- Monitor subcontractor productivity and ensure compliance with customer specifications.
- Manage change orders, RFIs, project documentation, and customer reporting.
- Conduct regular field inspections to ensure quality workmanship and safety compliance.
- Oversee project financial performance, forecasting, invoicing, and cost controls.
- Ensure timely completion of redlines, as-builts, testing documentation, and project closeout packages.
- Maintain strong communication with municipalities, permitting agencies, utility companies, engineering teams, and customers.
Required Experience
- 5+ years of Project Management experience supporting underground fiber construction.
- Experience managing large-scale FTTH or FTTP deployments.
- Strong understanding of underground utility construction practices.
- Experience managing directional boring crews.
- Experience managing open-cut trenching operations.
- Experience with conduit and innerduct installation.
- Experience coordinating handhole, vault, and pull box installations.
- Familiarity with fiber placement and underground cable installation.
- Experience coordinating restoration contractors.
- Strong understanding of production tracking and construction scheduling.
- Experience managing subcontractors across multiple active job sites.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and utility maps.
- Strong knowledge of underground utility conflict resolution.
- Experience managing project budgets, forecasting, and cost reporting.
