Facilitates physician's performance of invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures; handles all necessary instruments and supplies; ensures quality patient care and continually monitors the sterile field.

Job Requirements Education and Work Experience

• Associate Degree or Certificate of Program Completion in Surgical Technology:

Required

Licenses/Certifications

• National Board of Surgical Technologists or Association of Surgical Technologists certified:

Preferred

• CPR or BLS / HS-BLS / RQIBLS certification from approved vendor per AH policy:

Preferred

Facility Specific License/Certifications

• AHA-BLS or ARC-BLS:

Required

• Certified Surgery Technician (CST) or Tech in Surgery TS-C (NCCT) certification:

Required

Essential Functions

• Verifies surgery consent, brings patient to assigned OR, passes instruments, anticipates surgeon’s needs, performs counts with circulator, prepares and secures dressings.
• Checks supplies, obtains necessary items, sets up the sterile table, and assists with draping the sterile field.
• Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization; assists with room turnover and prepares the room for the next patient.
• Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
