Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule freight shipments, ensuring timely dispatching of trucks and drivers across multiple routes.
• Utilize transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine to plan routes, track shipments, and update delivery statuses.
• Manage multi-line phone systems to communicate effectively with drivers, carriers, warehouse staff, and clients, maintaining professional phone etiquette at all times.
• Monitor GPS and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) data to optimize routing and improve transportation planning accuracy.
• Oversee shipping & receiving operations, including freight documentation, data entry, and inventory updates within AS400 and other logistics platforms.
• Maintain organized records of dispatch activities, shipment statuses, and incident reports to support analysis and continuous improvement efforts.
• Collaborate with 3PL providers and fleet management teams to coordinate freight movement efficiently while adhering to safety standards.

Experience

• Proven experience in dispatching within a logistics or transportation environment, with familiarity using transportation management systems such as Oracle TMS or SyteLine.
• Strong analysis skills to interpret GPS data, GIS mapping tools, and supply chain metrics for route optimization.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage high-volume calls professionally while demonstrating strong phone etiquette.
• Demonstrated organizational skills for managing multiple shipments simultaneously in a fast-paced setting.
• Proficiency in data entry with high accuracy using platforms like AS400 or equivalent enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
• Knowledge of freight operations including shipping & receiving procedures, fleet management, and 3PL coordination is highly desirable.
• Ability to adapt quickly to new technology tools such as transportation planning software, GPS tracking systems, and telecommunication platforms.
