Job Description
Specializing in custom metal fabrication, we are looking for experienced Welder Fitter/Fabricators with shop experience to join our team at MGS. We provide steady work year‑round, growth opportunities, and a focus on employee safety.
Responsibilities
Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications.
Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications using squares, rulers, and measuring tapes.
Lay out and examine metal stock or work pieces to be processed to ensure specifications are met.
Align and fit parts according to specifications using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers.
Position or tighten braces, jacks, clamps, and/or bolt straps, or bolt parts in position for welding or riveting.
Study engineering drawings and blueprints to determine material requirements and task sequences.
Move parts into position manually or by using hoists or cranes.
Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.
Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
Clamp, hold, tack‑weld, heat‑bend, grind, and/or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
Detect faulty operation of equipment and/or defective materials and notify supervisors.
Examine work pieces for defects to ensure conformance with specifications.
Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the industry.
Requirements
Follow necessary MGS and customer‑specific procedures and work instructions.
Read complex paperwork/drawings or follow oral instructions to ascertain materials and processes for fabrication.
Execute tasks and responsibilities as required by the Quality System.
Follow safety guidelines and use all required personal protective equipment.
Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to work overtime and to meet schedule demands.
Maintain a clean and well‑organized work area.
Qualifications
3+ years MIG welding experience in a shop environment.
Experience welding various types and gauges of materials to tight tolerances while minimizing distortion.
Language Skills
The work requires the ability to follow verbal instructions and read/write in English.
Physical Demands
The employee frequently must stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, walk, sit, climb, balance, lift, and speak or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to occasionally maintain awkward positions for part of the work day.
Job Information
Job Type: Full‑time
Pay: $18.00 – $21.00 per hour
Shift: 8 hour day shift
Work Location: In person (Denver, PA 17517)
