We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Assistant Project Manager to join our Construction team. This role supports our in-house Project Managers throughout the lifecycle of construction projects, from internal kickoff through engineering, procurement, and close-out, and will be focused primarily on our west-coast project workload. Working closely with both internal stakeholders and field teams, the Assistant Project Manager plays a critical role in maintaining project documentation, tracking milestones, and ensuring adherence to AES standards and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Support &* Coordination:* Assist Project Managers with the day-to-day administration of projects, including documentation control, meeting coordination, and subcontractor communication.
  • Drawing &* Document Review:* Analyze drawings and specifications to support construction planning, identify discrepancies, and ensure clarity and constructability
  • RFI Management: Draft, track, and manage Requests for Information (RFIs), coordinating with design and engineering teams as needed.
  • Submittals &* Closeout:* Coordinate submittals and collect close-out documentation, including warranties, operating manuals, and as-builts. Maintain submittal and procurement logs.
  • Change Management: Prepare and track change order requests and assist with documentation and pricing for changes in scope.
  • Procurement Support: Assist with subcontractor/vendor quote comparisons, invitations to bid, and the execution of purchase orders in collaboration with the PM.
  • Schedule Coordination: Support the development and maintenance of project schedules, including monitoring material and equipment deliveries.
  • Construction Readiness: Help develop and maintain preconstruction and close-out workflows, safety program setup, and lessons-learned documentation.
  • Quality Control: Support the execution of QA/QC tasks in alignment with AES quality standards and project requirements.
  • Client Communication: Assist with client updates and provide project status reports under the guidance of the Project Manager.

Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 1-3+ years of project coordination or assistant project management experience in the construction industry, ideally within commercial or life sciences environments.
  • Familiarity with construction drawings, architectural and mechanical plans, and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with project management software preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and with external partners.
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Some travel may be required based on project needs.
