The Senior Accountant in our Finance & Accounting Outsourcing (FAO) team plays a crucial role in managing everyday accounting operations for our nonprofit clients. You'll be responsible for ensuring accuracy and timeliness in processing Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), credit card transactions, and general ledger activities. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to month-end close processes, implement improvements, and provide reliable financial insights that aid client decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle daily transactional operations, including preparing, processing, and coding AP and AR transactions while ensuring timely and precise payments and receipts.
  • Input, download, and accurately categorize credit card transactions, vendor invoices, and other bills.
  • Oversee the purchase order process, ensuring proper approval and GL coding.
  • Investigate and resolve any blocked or exception invoices efficiently.

Financial Reporting & Close Activities

  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing tasks, including journal entries, reconciliations, variance notes, and supporting documentation.
  • Conduct bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Review the general ledger for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate account classification.

Process Improvement & Controls

  • Analyze trends and insights through tracking KPIs, benchmarking, and variance analysis.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of standardized processes and workflow enhancements.
  • Help maintain internal controls and ensure adherence to GAAP and organizational policies.

Client Support & Onboarding

  • Engage in onboarding clients to various ERP and cloud-based accounting systems.
  • Follow established procedures to deliver consistent, high-quality financial operations.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with internal teams and external clients.
  • Contribute to internal initiatives as needed.

Skills & Abilities

  • Minimum 3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-client setting.
  • Proficient in adapting to new accounting technologies and tools.
  • Experience with AP, AR, payroll processes, and general bookkeeping.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills for interaction with stakeholders.

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Experience working with clients generating $1M-$50M in annual revenue; familiarity with larger organizations is desirable.

Benefits Information:

Cherry Bekaert offers competitive compensation packages recognizing the value you bring. The salary range for this position is $99,800 to $132,000, subject to individual qualifications and experience.
