Role Description The Construction Insurance Underwriter will evaluate, underwrite, and manage insurance risks for construction-focused accounts, ensuring profitable growth and alignment with company guidelines. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing applications, financials, and project documentation; assessing risk profiles; determining coverage terms; and negotiating pricing. The role involves collaborating with brokers, clients, and internal teams to structure tailored insurance solutions, respond to inquiries, and maintain accurate policy documentation. The underwriter will monitor portfolio performance, support renewal negotiations, and contribute to underwriting policies and best practices for the construction segment. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Brooklyn, NY.

Qualifications

  • Strong Analytical Skills to assess risk, interpret data, and make sound underwriting decisions.
  • Knowledge of Insurance principles and construction-related insurance products, including property, casualty, and liability.
  • Effective Communication skills for collaborating with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
  • Underwriting expertise in evaluating construction risks, setting coverage terms, and managing a profitable portfolio.
  • Finance skills to analyze financial statements, project budgets, and loss histories in support of risk evaluation.
  • Relevant experience in New York construction or commercial insurance underwriting; familiarity with regional regulations and market trends.
  • Ability to work on-site in Brooklyn, NY, manage multiple priorities, and maintain accuracy under time constraints.
