Part-time Barista

Overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Barista to join our vibrant café team. As a Barista, you will play a crucial role in creating a welcoming atmosphere for our customers while delivering exceptional service and high-quality beverages. Your expertise in food handling and preparation will ensure that every drink or food item meets our standards of excellence. Duties

• Prepare and serve a variety of coffee and tea beverages according to established recipes and customer preferences.
• Prepare frozen food items in a timely manner.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café, including workstations, equipment, and dining areas.
• Handle food safely and efficiently, adhering to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Operate the Aloha POS system for order processing, payment handling, and inventory management.
• Assist customers with menu selections, providing recommendations based on their preferences.
• Manage time effectively to ensure timely service during peak hours while maintaining quality standards.
• Collaborate with team members to create a positive work environment and support each other in daily tasks.
• In addition to daily coffee service, our café operates in an event space and serves beer, wine, and select alcoholic beverages Monday through Saturday and during private events. Team members may have the opportunity to work both barista and bartending shifts.

Baristas who are interested in bartending will have the opportunity to become alcohol-service certified through our organization. Staff serving alcohol will be responsible for preparing and serving beverages behind the counter, verifying valid ID, maintaining compliance with state and local alcohol laws, and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for guests.

Because alcohol service is part of this role, applicants must be at least 21 years of age and willing to obtain required alcohol service certification.

Schedule availability may vary based on café operations and special events, including evenings and occasional weekends.

Requirements

• Previous experience in the food service or café industry is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of food handling practices and food safety regulations.
• Basic math skills for handling transactions and managing inventory.
• Familiarity with Square POS or similar point-of-sale systems is a plus.
• Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a busy environment.
• A friendly demeanor with excellent communication skills to engage with customers effectively.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
