Job Overview
We are hiring skilled Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our dynamic healthcare team to work in assigned SNF under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. This role is essential in assisting patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and implementing individualized care plans to enhance their functional abilities and overall quality of life.
Duties
- Assist patients with ADLs, promoting independence and enhancing their daily living skills.
- Collaborate with Occupational Therapists to develop and implement effective treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs.
- Provide therapy services in diverse environments such as home health, acute care, outpatient clinics, and skilled nursing facilities.
- Utilize knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology to deliver safe and effective patient care.
- Document patient progress accurately and maintain comprehensive records in accordance with facility policies.
- Engage with geriatric and pediatric populations, adapting therapeutic interventions to meet the specific needs of each age group.
- Conduct assessments and participate in the evaluation of patients’ progress towards rehabilitation goals.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols while providing therapy services in inpatient and outpatient settings.
Requirements
- Certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) from an accredited program.
- Experience in skilled nursing facilities or acute care settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical imaging techniques as they relate to occupational therapy practices is a plus.
- Strong understanding of care plans, patient care strategies, and therapeutic interventions for various populations including geriatrics and pediatrics.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to demonstrate compassion, patience, and professionalism while working with diverse patient populations.
