POSITION: Director, Regional External Affairs
REPORTS TO: Executive Director, New York and New Jersey
LOCATION: Bronx, NY; Brooklyn, NY; Newark, NJ
Per Scholas seeks a Director of External Affairs to be part of the Per Scholas New York and New Jersey markets. You will hold key responsibilities to cultivate a strong network of partners that will advance our mission and accelerate our growth in New York and New Jersey. The Director of External Affairs will coordinate partnership management with key stakeholders, including philanthropic, government, and community partners.
The Director of External Affairs reports to the regional Executive Director of New York and New Jersey and supports Managing Directors and Development staff on donor strategy and engagements. This may include but is not limited to supporting prospect research, developing meeting memos/advising on meeting strategy, and attending meetings, campus tours, or other cultivation opportunities.
This role calls for excellent communication and project management skills, a high degree of professionalism, and a strong detail orientation to execute seamless professional engagements between Per Scholas and our partners.
WHAT YOU’LL DO: (NYC 80%, Buffalo 10%, Newark 10%)
Create effective communication channels between partners and proactively escalate and address any issues that may occur.
Support the Executive Director, Managing Directors, and Development teams on external engagements and help cultivate and secure thought leadership opportunities.
Researches and monitors government activities that could affect the organization's business and clients.
In partnership with the Executive Director, builds and maintains professional relationships with members of federal, state, and local government entities and agencies.
Collaborates with industry advocates to build areas of common interest.
Collaborate with the Recruitment Admissions, and Development teams to ensure proper coordination of partnerships.
Effectively leverage existing events of engagement of partners and key stakeholders.
Implement a partnership management framework to manage and maintain relationships with philanthropic, government, and community partners.
Supervise Senior Manager, Corporate Engagement.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO US:
Professional Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the technology, advocacy, and/or workforce sector in New York and New Jersey
Willingness to roll up your sleeves and dig into the details
Relationship building and partnership management skills
Strong communication skills, written and verbal
Strong project management skills
Strong presentation skills
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and convert them into partnerships
Experience utilizing Salesforce and analyzing data
