Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret technical specifications and installation drawings.
  • Utilize various ARC and gas welding equipment for fabricating and repairing components such as foundations, cable hangers, and more.
  • Weld across multiple positions and for diverse metals and alloys, including pipes and structural forms.
  • Employ gas welding, brazing, and multiple arc welding processes effectively.
  • Conduct thermal cutting and grinding as required.
  • Repair and enhance metal parts by filling holes and adjusting sizes.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Secret Clearance.
  • Three to five years of relevant welding experience is essential.
  • ASNT NDT Level II Certification or comparable experience is preferable.
  • Possession of additional technical certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Welding Supervisor/Inspector) is an advantage.

Safety and Physical Requirements:

  • Must obtain Occupational Safety Haz-Mat Certification.
  • Shipyard Competent Person Certification is required.
  • Aloft/Climbing Shipyard Certification needed.
  • Working in confined spaces certification is mandatory.
  • Ability to safely lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

Work Location and Security:

  • Primary work sites are in San Diego, CA, and Norfolk, VA, with potential travel to various shipyards in the U.S. and abroad.
  • Positions are at government facilities; U.S. Citizenship and valid driver’s license are necessary.
  • A successful background investigation is required.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Willingness to work overtime as requested by management.
  • Safeguard company tools and equipment.
  • Maintain welding inventory and organize tasks to ensure timely job completion.

Physical Requirements:

  • Capable of lifting 100 pounds at once and sustaining 60 pounds over time.
  • Ability to relocate a 12-foot stepladder independently.
  • Able to work at heights up to 60 feet, steady on scaffolds and ladders.
  • Frequent walking, climbing, squatting, and other physical activities are required.
  • Must possess good vision (correctable), color perception, and the ability to communicate in English.
  • Skilled in identifying potential issues and analyzing detailed information effectively.
