Accounting Manager (Manufacturing)

Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to lead financial reporting, cost accounting, and monthly close processes within a dynamic manufacturing environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate financials, driving cost efficiencies, and supporting strategic business decisions.
The ideal candidate brings a strong manufacturing accounting background, leadership experience, and thrives in a fast-paced, data-driven setting.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, tax laws, and internal controls
- Lead financial audits and serve as liaison with external auditors
- Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure timely reconciliations
Cost Accounting & Inventory Management
- Oversee cost accounting functions including cost structures, variance analysis, and profitability
- Manage inventory valuation and coordinate physical inventory audits
- Partner with operations to optimize material, labor, and overhead costs
Process Improvement & Systems
- Identify and implement process improvements across accounting functions
- Maintain strong internal controls and financial policies
- Support ERP system enhancements and implementations
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise and mentor accounting team members (AP, AR, Cost Accounting)
- Conduct performance evaluations and support professional development
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and leadership
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of accounting experience (manufacturing environment required)
- Prior leadership or management experience
- CPA or CMA preferred; Big 4 experience a plus
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial reporting skills
- Expertise in inventory, standard costing, and variance analysis

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally
Work Environment
- Onsite position
- May require extended hours during month-end close and audits
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or MBA
- Experience with process improvement initiatives
- Familiarity with SOX compliance
