Job Description Summary
This position is responsible for financial analysis, reporting, forecasting, and business partnerships across Supply Chain, with a primary focus on transportation and warehousing cost analysis. The role supports cost visibility, variance analysis, budgeting, freight and warehouse spend reporting, operational performance metrics, and cross-functional decision support. Key responsibilities include analyzing cost drivers, identifying trends and opportunities, supporting the annual planning and forecast processes, validating data accuracy, and translating financial results into actionable insights for Supply Chain, Transportation, Warehousing, Operations, Procurement, and Finance leadership.
Job Description
- Prepare, analyze, and report transportation and warehousing cost results, including freight, accessorial charges, storage, handling, labor, and related distribution expenses.
- Analyze monthly variances and root causes across actuals, current estimate, plan, and prior year by cost category, lane, facility, mode, carrier, customer, and other key business drivers.
- Develop reporting and KPIs that improve visibility to transportation and warehousing performance, including cost per pound, cost per case, warehouse spend trends, freight recovery, and service-related financial metrics.
- Partner with Transportation, Warehousing, Procurement, Operations, and Finance to explain cost performance, validate assumptions, and identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency while maintaining service levels.
- Support annual planning, current estimate, strategic plan, and forecast processes for transportation and warehousing spending, including volume, rate, mix, network, and productivity assumptions.
- Support freight bill review, accrual validation, reconciliations, audit requests, system enhancements, and process improvement initiatives that strengthen data quality, controls, and management reporting.
Basic & Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline.
- 3+ years of finance, accounting, supply chain, logistics, transportation, warehousing, or related analytical experience.
- Strong financial acumen, communication skills, and ability to translate complex transportation and warehousing cost data into clear business insights.
- Fundamental knowledge of GAAP, financial controls, accruals, reconciliations, and cost center or expense management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including ability to identify cost drivers, investigate variances, and develop actionable recommendations.
- Ability to balance attention to detail with broader business goals, time limitations, and competing priorities.
- Ability to self-direct, manage multiple projects, and adapt in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and intermediate to advanced Excel; experience with ERP, TMS, WMS, Power BI, or other reporting and data visualization tools preferred.
FORGE Program
This position may be included in the FORGE Program, a developmental rotational experience within Lamb Weston Supply Chain Finance. Rotational opportunities may include, but are not limited to, Plant, Transportation & Warehousing, Cost Accounting, Inventory, Grower Accounts, and Capital Finance.
- Rotations: The program will include a minimum 12–18-month experience in the posted position prior to a rotation to another Supply Chain FORGE role determined later.
