Role Description The Lab Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Jurupa Valley, CA. This position is responsible for performing routine and specialized laboratory tests on pavement and construction materials to support quality assurance and project specifications. Day-to-day tasks include preparing and handling samples, operating laboratory equipment, recording and analyzing test data, and maintaining accurate documentation and reports. The Lab Technician will follow established procedures and safety protocols, assist with troubleshooting test discrepancies, and collaborate with field and project teams to ensure materials comply with applicable standards. The role also involves maintaining a clean, organized lab environment and supporting continuous improvements in testing methods and quality control processes.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong laboratory skills, including experience with Laboratory Equipment and general Laboratory Skills.
- Candidates should possess quality-focused experience, including Quality Control and knowledge related to Laboratory Technicians’ best practices.
- Candidates should possess solid Analytical Skills for interpreting test results, identifying trends, and reporting findings accurately.
- Basic understanding of construction materials (e.g., asphalt, asphalt emulsions, slurry seal mix designs, aggregates, recycling mix designs, concrete) and relevant industry standards is beneficial.
- Ability to follow detailed procedures, maintain precise records, and adhere to strict safety protocols.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with lab, field, and project teams.
- Bachlors degree preferred, High school diploma or equivalent required; technical coursework or certification in materials testing or a related field is a plus.
- Physical ability to lift samples and equipment as needed and work in a laboratory environment associated with construction materials testing. Keeping lab clean and safe.
