Our Pre‑K classrooms blend structured learning with hands‑on exploration, creativity, and social‑emotional development. We are seeking a dedicated Pre‑Kindergarten Lead Teacher who brings passion, professionalism, and leadership to our team.

Position Overview

As a Pre‑Kindergarten Lead Teacher, you will guide a classroom of young learners through developmentally appropriate lessons, daily routines, and meaningful interactions that build confidence, independence, and school readiness. You will supervise assistant teachers, maintain a safe and positive environment, and partner closely with families to support each child’s growth. This is a year‑round, permanent role with opportunities for advancement within our expanding academy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily Pre‑K classroom routines, lessons, and activities that support early literacy, math readiness, social‑emotional learning, and creative exploration.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support assistant teachers to ensure consistent, high‑quality instruction and classroom operations.
  • Implement positive behavior guidance strategies to maintain a respectful, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Plan developmentally appropriate lessons incorporating art, music, movement, sensory play, and hands‑on learning experiences.
  • Maintain strict adherence to all safety protocols; ensure active supervision during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, rest time, and transitions.
  • Build strong relationships with families through regular communication about children’s progress, milestones, and any concerns.
  • Complete required documentation including attendance, developmental observations, incident reports, and licensing compliance forms.

Required Qualifications

  • CDA in Preschool or at least 12 ECE credits (or active enrollment toward completion).
  • Proven experience working with young children in daycare, preschool, or early childhood education settings.
  • Strong classroom management skills with the ability to foster positive behavior and support social‑emotional development.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before start date).
  • Experience supporting children with diverse needs; background in special education is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with staff, engaging families, and supporting children.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a busy childcare environment while maintaining professionalism, patience, and enthusiasm.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • Experience leading a classroom or supervising assistant teachers.
  • Familiarity with NYS OCFS childcare regulations.
