**Structural MIG Welder** **Job Description** This role focuses on the production and fabrication of structural steel components for commercial buildings. You will use MIG welding techniques to assemble and weld columns, I-beams, and architectural steel elements while interpreting blueprints and weld symbols to ensure accuracy and quality. **Responsibilities** + Produce and fabricate structural steel components for commercial buildings, including columns, I-beams, stairs, and rails. + Perform MIG welding on structural steel in accordance with applicable standards and procedures. + Fit up steel components accurately prior to welding, ensuring all parts are aligned and assembled correctly. + Read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols to determine specifications, dimensions, and weld requirements. + Use grinding tools and other fabrication equipment to prepare, finish, and refine welded assemblies. + Follow structural welding practices consistent with AWS D1.1 standards to maintain quality and integrity. + Measure materials precisely using a tape measure to 1/16th of an inch to ensure accurate fabrication and fit. + Utilize basic computer skills to access work orders, drawings, and production documentation as needed. + Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all shop safety procedures and guidelines. + Collaborate with other fabricators and welders to complete production schedules and meet project deadlines. **Essential Skills** + At least 1 year of experience welding in a structural environment. + Proficiency in MIG welding for structural steel applications. + Ability to fit up steel components accurately prior to welding. + Ability to read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols. + Knowledge of structural welding practices aligned with AWS D1.1 standards. + Experience working with structural columns and I-beams. + Ability to use grinding tools and other fabrication equipment safely and effectively. + Ability to read a tape measure accurately to 1/16th of an inch. + Basic computer knowledge and skills to support production tasks. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience fabricating architectural steel components such as stairs and rails. + Experience working in a structural steel or fabrication shop environment. + Familiarity with production workflows in commercial construction projects. + Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds and assemblies. **Why Work Here?** You will join a specialized fabrication environment where your structural welding skills directly contribute to high-profile commercial spaces such as hospitals, universities, and stadiums. The environment is production-oriented, with an emphasis on accuracy, quality, and adherence to safety procedures in a busy shop setting. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Albuquerque, NM. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $18.00/hr.
