Summary
You will take on the role of a Lead Electrician within the Department of the Navy, supporting various naval sites. Your expertise will be critical in ensuring the efficient operations of electrical systems on naval surface ships and submarines.

Duties
- Serve as an Expert Electrician, guiding a team to ensure timely completion of work assignments.
- Repair, overhaul, install, modify, calibrate, and test electrical systems and equipment on both nuclear and non-nuclear naval vessels.
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot equipment used to manufacture and overhaul ship components.
- Disassemble, clean, and replace defective parts, ensuring proper alignment, calibration, and functionality of equipment.
- Oversee repairs and adjustments to maintain electrical equipment operation, addressing malfunctions and replacing worn or damaged parts.
- Ensure all work assignments are carried out efficiently across all assigned shifts.
- Communicate instructions from supervisors and provide guidance to team members.
- Keep supervisors informed about potential issues and suggest corrective measures.
- Inspect work for quality, adhering to defined standards and specifications.
- Research and implement improvements in trade processes, keeping staff updated on new technologies and best practices.
- Ensure availability of plans, blueprints, materials, and tools for specific jobs.
- Mentor and train trade employees on a variety of electrical systems.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be suitable for federal employment.
- Participation in the direct deposit pay program is required.
- New Department of the Navy employees must pass the E-Verify employment verification.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- This may be a bargaining unit position.
- A pre-appointment physical examination may be required.
- Obtaining and maintaining a security clearance is essential.
- Personal protective equipment may be required during work shifts.
- Work may involve exposure to potentially harmful substances and high noise levels.
- Travel may be necessary to various duty stations, including remote locations.
- Uncommon work hours may be required to meet mission demands.
- Ability to work onboard ships and in confined spaces is necessary.
- Lifting and carrying items up to 40 pounds may be required.
- Must obtain and use a government travel card.
- This position may require drug testing.
- This is a Mission Essential position, ensuring continuity of operations.
