Job Title: Phlebotomist I 1st Shift M-F
Job Description
The Phlebotomist I plays a key role in safely and accurately collecting blood specimens, supporting laboratory operations, and ensuring a positive experience for patients. This role involves performing venipuncture and capillary puncture procedures, maintaining specimen integrity, and contributing to efficient workflow by assisting with troubleshooting, training, and process improvement recommendations.
Responsibilities
- Perform blood collection procedures through venipuncture and capillary puncture using appropriate techniques and equipment, including butterfly needles when needed.
- Accurately identify patients and verify all specimen collection requirements prior to performing any procedure.
- Label, process, and prepare blood and other specimens for laboratory testing in accordance with established protocols.
- Maintain specimen integrity by following proper handling, storage, and transportation procedures.
- Provide exceptional patient care by demonstrating professionalism, empathy, and clear communication during all patient interactions, including with geriatric patients.
- Deliver high-quality customer service by addressing patient questions and concerns in a courteous and respectful manner.
- Follow all safety, quality, and compliance procedures, including infection control and laboratory standards.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of collections, patient information, and test orders using data entry systems.
Essential Skills
- Proven phlebotomy skills, including venipuncture and capillary puncture, with the ability to perform blood draws confidently and safely.
- Phlebotomy certification or equivalent credential demonstrating competency in phlebotomy practices.
- Strong specimen collection skills, including proper use of collection devices such as butterfly needles.
- Ability to accurately identify patients and verify specimen collection requirements.
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous phlebotomy experience in a laboratory, medical, or healthcare setting.

- Experience working in a laboratory environment and familiarity with standard laboratory workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with laboratory staff and healthcare professionals.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining specimen integrity and accurate records.

Work Environment
This is an onsite role in a clinical or laboratory setting where you perform blood draws and specimen collection directly with patients.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Tulsa, OK.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.00/hr.
