Overview
Under the direction of the Senior Production Manager, this role will be responsible for the planning, development, supervision, and continuous improvement of the manufacturing processes in Wiring Harness, Machine Shop, Brazing, Shell Assembly, Paint Lines, and Weld and Assembly. This position will manage the budgets of the assigned departments through the proper use of materials and human resources, measurement and improvement of productivity, and improvements to processes and equipment.
Responsibilities
Directs the work of supervisors in multiple departments
Ensures that each department meets Safety, Environmental, Quality, Delivery and Cost targets
Works with Supply Chain to ensure materials needed to run production are on hand
Improve manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, materials, and input from employees
Manage employee’s daily activities to insure production efficiencies and minimal overtime
Maximize production personnel capabilities and implement procedures to improve efficiency
Analyze historical production data and future needs to monitor and adjust workflow in areas for optimal productivity
Propose, plan, and implement projects that improve productivity or capability of departments. This could include but not limited to machine replacements, upgrades, retrofits, department reorganizations, etc.
Work with supervisors to plan personnel in order to accomplish work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries and adjusting employee work assignments when necessary
Maintain quality standards by establishing and enforcing company policies, procedures and work instructions
Make suggestions and improvements to standards where possible
Guide supervisors and work with maintenance to schedule and execute department led maintenance activities to maximize uptime around required production
Maintain safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on compliance with established policies and procedures
Build a strong team atmosphere within departments where learning, continuous improvement, and communication is valued
Resolve personnel problems; investigating issues; identifying solutions and recommending action
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending classes, training, trade shows, etc.

Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred
A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a supervising role, excellent leadership skills and the ability to actively lead and/or participate in a fact based, cross-functional teamwork environment desired
Ability to interact in an effective manner with all levels of the organization, possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills; computer and organizational skills
Ability to multi-task and motivate groups to meet performance and production goals
Excellent troubleshooting ability
Working knowledge of PLCs, HMI and automation
Lean manufacturing knowledge and experience preferred
Knowledge of quality tools and continuous improvement methodologies (FMEA, Root Cause, 5S, Six Sigma, and Process Flow Analysis)
Possess a continuous improvement attitude proven through work history
ISO 9000, ISO 14001 and OHSAS training preferred
Project management, communication and documentation skills required
Strong verbal and technical writing skills with the ability to communicate to broad audiences
Proficient in Microsoft Office to include, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and D365
Working Conditions
This position may involve potential exposure to hazardous materials, and environmental changes (heat/cold), and the employee must be able to work under stress occasioned by production requirements, personnel, and the needs of other departments, utilizing proper body mechanics. Ability to work long hours in emergency situations, overtime or alternate shifts.
