Job Summary
Loenbro is building a new Connectivity service line focused on delivering telecom infrastructure solutions for data center and hyperscale environments.
As a Lead Project Engineer , you will play a critical role in building this capability from the ground up — shaping processes, supporting early-stage project execution, and helping establish the technical standards and training infrastructure that will scale this business.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in high-growth, ambiguous environments and wants to help create something from scratch — not step into a fully built system.
Work Structure: This is a remote, work-from-home position for your administrative and desk-based engineering tasks. However, because we build critical telecom infrastructure nationwide, this role requires a high degree of field deployment. You must be willing and able to travel 40% to 75% of the time to active hyperscale data centers and construction zones across the U.S.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Quantification Take-offs: Perform detailed field evaluations and complete full quantity take-offs of labor, equipment, and materials using Bluebeam, Accubid or similar software.
Project Execution: Provide field engineering, contract administration, shop drawing reviews, RFIs, and submittal tracking throughout the project lifecycle.
Technical Methods: Assist in establishing construction plans and engineering methods tailored to project specifications and cabling installations.
Change Management: Administer, price, track, and submit project change orders.
Standards Training: Develop data center technical training, SOPs, and work instructions to ensure compliance with customer quality plans and industry standards.
Testing Oversight: Establish field testing methodologies using industry best practices; provide certifiable training on test equipment systems.
Asset Management: Oversee inventory control, tracking, and operations for specialized test equipment and label printing resources.
Project Closeout: Coordinate and validate closeout packages, including test reports, redlines, as-built drawings, and warranties.
Minimum Qualifications
Required:
5+ years of experience in project engineering within telecom, connectivity, or data center environments.
Proficiency with Bluebeam or similar estimating software and the ability to fluently read and interpret blueprints/specifications.
Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of Telecom/Connectivity trade scopes, data center environments, and cabling installation standards.
Deep understanding of Division 27 specifications.
Data Management: Ability to accurately maintain internal data systems (Loenbro systems).
Experience with as-builts, redlines, and project closeout processes.
Experience using Fluke, EXFO, or similar test equipment.
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field.
Ability to design cabling systems adhering to industry standards/Div27 specifications.
Deep understanding of fiber optic troubleshooting and cleaning methods.
Preferred:
RCDD certification.
Exposure to OSP/ISP design.
Experience in hyperscale data center environments.
Experience working in early-stage or high-growth environments.
Ability to travel at least 40% of the time.
Driver’s license with a clean driving record.
