Job Title: General Production Worker
Job Description
This role supports a high-volume manufacturing operation by performing masking, racking, unracking, inspection, and general production tasks across multiple departments. You will work in a fast-paced environment on a rotating or fixed shift, receive initial training on first shift, and contribute to consistent product quality and safe plant operations.
Responsibilities
- Train on first shift for approximately one week or until you demonstrate proficiency in core production tasks.
- Enable effective communication between production employees and leadership by sharing updates, raising concerns, and clarifying work instructions.
- Maintain a clean and safe workplace in accordance with company policies and safety procedures.
- Perform related duties as assigned to support production operations, including assisting other departments when needed.
- Create cutouts from CATIA models for new parts and legacy parts as required.
- Inspect masking on completed jobs to verify accuracy and quality.
- Track jobs through the production process and move completed work to the next operation.
- Support the masking department when additional help is needed.
- Perform masking verification for new parts using the quality dashboard.
- Contact customers to obtain blueprints and CATIA models as needed to complete jobs correctly.
- Keep blueprint revisions current and organized to ensure work reflects the latest specifications.
- Apply masking tape, caps, plugs, and liquid maskants to parts based on detailed work instructions and blueprints.
- Inspect parts for damage or defects prior to masking and report any issues.
- Follow detailed technique cards and purchase orders to meet masking and processing requirements.
- Communicate with inspectors and supervisors regarding masking concerns, quality issues, or process questions.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including tools, materials, and paperwork.
- Assist in other production tasks such as cleaning, prepping, sanding, packing parts, or post-processing as needed.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment and compliance with company policies.
- As a Racker/Unracker, determine job priorities to prepare parts for processing based on work orders and production needs.
- Select appropriate racking procedures according to the size, shape, and quantity of parts to be processed.
- Hang or clip parts to racks, bars, or hoists for processing in a safe and secure manner.
- Remove parts from racks or bars after processing and handle them carefully to prevent damage.
- Complete all required paperwork accurately and on time in accordance with company and processing guidelines.
- Ensure proper personal protective equipment is worn and all safety guidelines are followed throughout each shift.
- Maintain a clean working area by disposing of unnecessary trash, wires, and other debris.
- Ensure all hazardous waste materials are handled and disposed of correctly following established procedures.
Essential Skills
- Experience in production, general labor, or manufacturing environments.
- Ability to read and follow work orders, blueprints, and detailed work instructions.
- Hands-on experience or strong aptitude for masking parts using tape, caps, plugs, and liquid maskants.
- Basic sanding skills and comfort with handling and preparing parts for processing.
- Ability to perform packing of parts with attention to quality and protection of components.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate masking, racking, inspection, and documentation.
- Ability to perform visual inspection of parts to identify damage, defects, or masking issues.
- Comfort using basic hand tools in a production or manufacturing setting.
- Demonstrated teamwork and willingness to assist in multiple departments, particularly between Racking and Masking.
- Ability to keep pace in a fast-moving environment and maintain productivity standards.
- Flexibility to work across different shifts (first, second, third, or weekend shift) as required by the operation.
- Ability to communicate clearly with inspectors, supervisors, and coworkers about job status and quality concerns.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with CATIA models or similar 3D modeling files is beneficial.
- Familiarity with reading and managing blueprint revisions is an advantage.
- Prior experience in masking, racking, unracking, or similar finishing processes is preferred.
- Comfort working with chemicals and in environments where respirators and other PPE are required.
- Ability to prioritize jobs and organize workflow based on production needs.
- Strong organizational skills for managing paperwork, work orders, and quality documentation.
- Willingness to learn new processes and move into other departments as opportunities arise.
- Preference for candidates who are comfortable wearing construction-style footwear, especially in Racking…
