Senior Staff Accountant

Location: San Antonio, Texas (In-office)

Acara Healthcare, a leading provider of in-home healthcare across Texas, is seeking a Senior Accountant who will oversee complex financial operations, prepare financial statements, and ensure compliance with GAAP regulations. This role acts as a key liaison between the 3rd party staff and management. They are responsible for month-end closes, account reconciliations, and ensuring all interfaces to the general ledger are complete. This position will work in the San Antonio office and report to the Chief Financial Officer.

Responsibilities

• General Ledger Management: Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes. Perform journal entries as needed.
• Reconciliation: Perform and review complex balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Accounts Payable Interface: Work closely with AP to ensure all interfaces to the general ledger are accurate. Ensure AP is coding invoices appropriately.
• Compliance: Ensure all financial transactions are recorded in accordance with US GAAP.
• Auditing & Taxes: Compile necessary schedules for external audits and assist with tax filings.
• Manage and Oversee external 3rd party accounting vendor.

Required Qualifications

• BA in Accounting
• 5+ years’ experience leading monthly closes preferably in health care
• Advanced proficiency in Excel
• Strong attention to detail and analytical capabilities
• Great communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA preferred
• Experience with NetSuite General Ledger

Salary range: $ 80,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience
