The Technical Architect is a specialized individual contributor responsible for owning the technical integration workstream for our Enterprise customers. You are the expert who ensures the Gong platform is seamlessly integrated into complex enterprise technical ecosystems, translating functional goals into reliable, high-performing technical solutions.
You will work closely with the Engagement Manager and Consultant to lead technical discovery, design, testing, and deployment. This role is focused on architecting and implementing solutions using the Gong API framework, supporting complex CRM configurations, and guiding customers through technical governance and security requirements to achieve mission-critical outcomes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as the primary technical subject matter expert (SME), leading the technical workstream for complex customer implementations across the Enterprise segment.
Lead technical discovery and design workshops with customer IT, Security, and Engineering teams, translating functional requirements into robust, scalable integration and deployment architectures.
Own the end-to-end technical architecture and governance of solutions built on the Gong API framework, ensuring long-term stability and scalability in the customer's environment.
Architect and implement solutions for non-standard or complex CRM configurations (e.g., multi-org, custom objects, advanced field mapping) to ensure reliable data synchronization.
Create high-quality technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, data flow maps, and API integration specifications for customer governance and reference.
Lead data migration planning and execution for customers moving from legacy or competitive systems, ensuring data integrity and continuity.
Maintain expert-level knowledge of the entire Gong technical ecosystem, including the API framework, data architecture, security posture, and common third-party integration points (CRM, telephony, calendar).
Contribute technical insights to the pre-sales process by assisting with solution scoping, technical requirement gathering, and providing effort estimates for complex technical deliverables.
Act as a technical liaison for high-impact customer escalations, working cross-functionally with Gong Engineering, Product, and Support teams to drive resolution.
Develop and refine internal technical best practice guides, deployment runbooks, and integration documentation to improve the quality and efficiency of the Professional Services practice.
Customer Technical Delivery (75% Billable Utilization)
QUALIFICATIONS
6+ years of experience in system, technical, or solution architecture, preferably in a customer-facing Professional Services role for a Cloud/SaaS Enterprise software company.
Deep, hands-on experience with RESTful and JSON API implementation, design, and testing, including familiarity with client- and server-side programming concepts.
Expert-level knowledge of major CRM architecture (e.g., Salesforce data model, objects, security, and integration patterns) is required.
Expertise in identity management and authentication protocols such as SAML, OAuth 2.0, and SCIM for enterprise-grade deployments.
Proven ability to translate complex technical architectures into clear, concise documentation and communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical executive audiences.
Extensive experience advising on security and IT governance policies related to SaaS deployments, including SSO configuration and network requirements.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Experience in a similar role within a RevOps, Sales Tech, or B2B SaaS environment.
Familiarity with common telephony systems (CCaaS, UCaaS) and their integration patterns.
