BIG seeks a Junior Landscape Designer to join us in our NYC office. As a Junior Landscape Designer, you will be responsible for design and technical production on landscape projects of varying scales. This will encompass conceptual design, the technical side of production of drawing sets, grading and planting design, coordination, and landscape materiality.
Job Requirements
- Professional degree in landscape architecture or architecture with landscape-related degree (Ecology, Urbanism, Urban Design, Environmental Design)
- 0-3 years professional experience as a landscape designer/architect
- Should have strong ability with 3D modeling in Rhino, Adobe Suite, AutoCAD
- Understanding of grading design, planting design, natural systems, materials, and technical aspects of landscape architecture
- Familiarity with technical documentation and coordination; a dedication to rigor and craft in built work
- Excellent communication skills, fluent in English - spoken and written
- Strong conceptual and design skills with sensitivity in the human scale
- Ability to express design ideas quickly, clearly and succinctly
- Ability to develop design options in collaboration with other design teams and consultants
- Ability to prepare, develop and edit drawings and models as they relate to the project
- Organizational skills, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Willingness to take on constructive guidance in response to direction from managers
Nice to Have Experience:
- Experience as a junior designer on built and published references is preferred
- Familiarity or competence in Revit strongly desired
Job Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and development of landscape and urban projects
- Generate and explore creative, responsive, and innovative design ideas with collaborators
- Produce comprehensive drawing sets and visual documentation for landscape projects
- Apply digital tools for modeling, visualization, and presentation
- Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to ensure design quality and consistency
- Support the integration of sustainable strategies and innovative approaches into design
- Communicate design ideas clearly and effectively
- Engage in a collaborative studio culture that values feedback and continuous improvement
- Develop professional skills through hands-on experience and mentorship from senior staff

The salary range for this position is $67,000 - $74,000 depending on experience.
