Position: Dockworker/Forklift Operator (GEG)
Overview
Duties include loading and unloading freight by hand or using pallet jack/forklift, sorting product, and using a barcode scanner to maintain a tidy service center dock. Salary $20.97/hr work shift Tuesday to Saturday starting 9:00 AM.
Responsibilities
- Offload delivery trucks transporting merchandise into the warehouse.
- Load or unload by hand, or using freight handling tools such as lift truck, pallet jack, or side cart.
- Use scanners to read barcodes on products and freight.
- Scan barcode on freight and ensure each freight movement to rack, floor, or loading door.
- View prompts on screens and follow directions for some tasks.
- Verify shipping information from the scan unit to ensure freight is labeled to go to the correct destination.
- Receive and put away inventory.
- Confirm merchandise information matches that of the work order.
- Attach barcodes to freight for tracking and routing.
- Finalize the work order and update the database.
- Inspect merchandise for damage, flaws, and irregularities.
- Ensure product meets quality requirements.
- Report overage, shortages, and damages according to operating procedures.
- Sort and segregate freight by destination.
- Verify freight counts.
- Perform dock clean-up as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
Qualifications
- At least 6 months experience.
- Previous experience as a fulfillment associate.
- Knowledge of warehousing procedures a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret written work orders.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Minimum age 18 years.
- Meet minimum hiring criteria.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Experience operating lift truck, pallet jack, or side cart desired.
- Frequently lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 70 pounds; pull up to 100 pounds and push up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally climb stairs.
- Frequently stoop, kneel, or crouch.
Environment
Most work is conducted in a comfortable office environment but exposure to site conditions may also occur. Personal protective equipment must be worn in all areas as required. Although the work is usually not considered inherently dangerous, employees must exercise caution while performing onsite services.
