What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

As a Process Engineer for the Paint shop at Scout Motors, you will design, implement, and enhance paint shop processes, addressing any equipment and process challenges that arise. You will ensure overall quality by developing detailed process documentation and standards. This role involves optimizing workflow within the paint shop and coordinating with various departments to address any factors affecting paint shop operations. Lead specific projects or functional areas as needed to support business objectives

Provide technical support for the automotive industrial paint process, including troubleshooting manufacturing and equipment issues to enhance key business metrics.

Collaborate with Production and Maintenance personnel to scope, order, and implement new processes and equipment.

Support the development of processing standards for new product launches.

Act as a technical resource for the paint department, offering guidance to technicians and work teams, and lead cross-functional paint, process improvement projects with operations, maintenance, and controls teams.

Serve as a liaison between the paint department and other process partners such as product design, assembly, maintenance, safety, and quality.

Creating work instructions and workflow designs to improve manufacturing operations.

Collaborate in the development, assembly, or procurement of new tooling and modifications to existing fixtures to ensure efficient production methods.

Conduct hands-on training for manufacturing employees on products, processes, equipment, and tooling, and lead company safety programs including inspections, training, and documentation.

Location Travel Expectations :

This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Blythewood, South Carolina.

This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.

Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

We expect the Process Engineer to bring a unique set of qualifications and experience to excel in this role. Key qualifications include:

Bachelor's degree in industrial/mechanical engineering or related field. An equivalent amount relevant work experience may considered in lieu of a degree.

At least 2 years of technical experience in a manufacturing environment, with a strong background in industrial automotive painting processes.

Proficiency with paint systems, paint robotics and application equipment

Knowledge of paint quality tools.

Understanding industrial conveyors, paint booths, and visual paint inspection methods.

Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, with the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems effectively.

Experience with AutoCAD or CATIA.

Expertise in lean principles and their application to process improvement.
