Job Title: Accountant
Job Description
This Accountant role focuses on month-end close activities, accounts receivable, accounts payable, reconciliations, and preparation of monthly financial statements, with extensive use of Excel. The position supports financial reporting and analysis, including journal entries, variance analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations, while also contributing to planning and forecasting processes in a rapidly growing company that serves both traditional energy and AI data center power generation markets.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and post journal entries in accordance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies to support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
- Contribute to the preparation of financial statements and related supporting schedules, ensuring the completeness and accuracy of reported results.
- Perform detailed variance analyses on profit and loss (P&L) statements and investigate fluctuations relative to budget and prior periods, providing clear explanations and insights.
- Prepare and reconcile balance sheet accounts, promptly identifying and resolving discrepancies to maintain accurate financial records.
- Maintain and monitor key accounting schedules, including prepaid expenses, accruals, and fixed assets, in compliance with established procedures.
- Support month-end close activities, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and bank reconciliations, to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Assist in the development of annual budgets, periodic forecasts, and financial projections by providing accurate financial data and analysis.
- Use Excel extensively to analyze financial data, build and maintain schedules, and support reporting and forecasting needs.
- Collaborate with the Controller, CFO, and on-site accounting staff to streamline processes and improve the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting.
- Support the transition and ongoing use of the company’s ERP systems, including a proprietary ERP and potential future platforms such as Oracle or NetSuite, by ensuring data integrity and consistent accounting treatment.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in general ledger accounting, including preparation and posting of journal entries.
- Hands-on experience with month-end close processes, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and reconciliations.
- Strong skills in preparing and analyzing financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Ability to perform detailed variance analysis on P&L statements and explain fluctuations against budget and prior periods.
- Experience with bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and application of company accounting policies.
- Advanced or heavy usage of Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting.
- Ability to maintain and reconcile key accounting schedules such as prepaid expenses, accruals, and fixed assets.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of financial reporting and analysis.
- Effective communication skills to present findings and collaborate with finance leadership and team members.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred; a degree in Finance is also acceptable.
- Experience supporting planning and forecasting activities, including budgets and financial projections.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, including working in a proprietary ERP environment.
- Exposure to or interest in working with larger ERP platforms such as Oracle or NetSuite.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-growing, evolving business environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies efficiently.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and meet close and reporting deadlines.
Work Environment

Job Type & Location

Pay and Benefits
