Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Receptionist with opportunity for growth in house, to join our home health care team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and healthcare professionals, ensuring a warm and professional environment. Your primary responsibility will be managing front desk operations, coordinating appointments, and supporting administrative functions that keep our home health services running smoothly. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to patient care while utilizing your strong organizational and communication skills in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
Duties
- Greet patients, visitors, and staff with professionalism and a friendly demeanor, providing excellent patient service at all times
- Manage medical scheduling using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth to coordinate appointments efficiently
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification to ensure accurate billing processes
- Handle multi-line phone systems with courteous phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately and taking detailed messages when necessary
- Maintain accurate medical records by filing documents, reviewing documentation for completeness, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist with medical administrative support tasks including data entry, appointment reminders, and updating patient information in EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems like eClinicalWorks or Dentrix
- Support clinic operations by managing front desk activities such as patient intake, document review, and scheduling follow-ups
Requirements
- Proven experience in a medical office or healthcare reception role with familiarity in medical billing, coding (ICD-10/ICD-9/CPT), and documentation review
- Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or Eaglesoft
- Knowledge of medical terminology, health information management principles, and HIPAA compliance standards
- Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a busy environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations
- Prior clinic or hospital experience is preferred; dental or home health care experience is a plus
- Strong organizational skills including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and office management experience
