Medical Assistant / Health Coach — $24/hr, 4-Day Workweek (Seattle DPC Clinic)

Wise Patient Internal Medicine, a small independent adult primary care clinic in Seattle, is seeking a dynamic and passionate Medical Assistant / Health Coach / Scribe. The ideal candidate is fascinated by the human stories behind each visit, enjoys thinking critically, and wants to help make going to the doctor a motivating, friendly experience. You should be able to work independently, solve problems effectively, and take initiative when appropriate. A compassionate, calm demeanor and a demonstrated interest in patient advocacy are essential.

This role is ideal for a pre-professional candidate: someone planning a career in medicine who wants hands-on experience while helping build a growing practice. We practice Direct Primary Care, so an interest in innovative healthcare delivery is important, along with genuine enthusiasm for learning. Because our practice is small, the role is broad: you'll handle a mix of administrative and clinical tasks, including phlebotomy, scribing medical visits, and triaging patient messages. Working alongside three fellow Medical Assistants and five primary care providers, you'll gain practical, firsthand understanding of disease processes, health maintenance, and healthcare delivery.

Schedule & Compensation This is a full-time position (40 hours/week), typically worked as four 10-hour days. Shifts fall between 8am and 6pm, Monday–Friday, so applicants must have full availability during these hours.

Base pay starts at $24/hour. Benefits begin immediately and include:

  • 401(k) with 5% employer contribution
  • Health insurance, with the employer covering 100% of the employee's medical premium and 50% of premiums for one dependent

Required Qualifications

Education (one of the following):

  • WA State Medical Assistant Certification, or
  • Bachelor's degree (at time of employment) plus direct patient care experience in the medical field through employment or volunteering, or
  • Certified Emergency Medical Technician plus 1 year of direct patient care experience in the medical field

Additional requirements:

  • Excellent computer and typing skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and respond well to feedback
  • Reliability, dependability, professionalism, and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to provide compassionate care to patients from all backgrounds
  • Phlebotomy certification a plus (training provided if hired)
  • Basic Life Support certification a plus (training provided if hired)
