Love precision work, detailed drawings, and the satisfaction of building something that flies? Join Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) in North Charleston, South Carolina, and assemble advanced structures for the 787 Dreamliner. This role is 100% onsite on a variable shift.

What will you do?

  • Follow uncompromising safety practices—every task, every time.
  • Deliver top-tier quality that meets regulatory and company requirements.
  • Complete new-hire foundational training; earn and maintain required certifications.
  • Use computers to access and execute electronic work instructions.
  • Read complex drawings/specifications and translate them into accurate build steps.
  • Wear PPE suited to each operation; handle chemicals properly.
  • Operate ladders and mechanical lifts (tiger and snorkel lifts).
  • Use hand and diagnostic tools—screwdrivers, ratchets, power screwdriver, multimeters, continuity testers.
  • Apply solvents, sealants, coatings, primers, adhesives, paints, and special finishes.
  • Self-inspect and perform FOD checks to ensure defect-free work.
  • Work safely around energized equipment (e.g., circuit breakers, wiring) and in constant noise.

Can you meet the physical demands?

  • Finger manipulation (keyboard and fine-motor tasks).
  • Lift and carry 10–35 pounds.
  • Climb/balance (stairs, ladders, poles, scaffolding, inclined surfaces), crawl, and crouch (squat).
  • Perform flexion/extension (head bent down/back), handling, kneeling, bend at the waist, reach overhead, rotate head/neck, stand, twist at the waist, and walk.

Where and when?

  • Location: North Charleston, South Carolina (100% onsite).
  • Schedule: Variable shift (shift 4). Assigned at hire based on business needs; re-evaluated as needed.

How do you qualify?

Basic qualifications

  • Available for variable shifts (first, second, or third).
  • Capable of all listed physical requirements.
  • Lift/carry up to 10–35 pounds.
  • Work with high-hazard chemicals using PPE provided.
  • Ability to complete and maintain Confined Space and Fall Protection certifications, if required.
  • 1+ year using software (internet, email, Microsoft Office, and/or specialized apps).
  • 1+ year following detailed work instructions and interpreting blueprints/drawings/specs, plus successful completion of training and assessments with mathematical calculations in English.
  • 1+ year in manufacturing/technical/mechanical work (or equivalent military), using hand, power, and/or pneumatic tools.

Preferred qualifications

  • 3+ years related experience or equivalent education/experience mix.
  • 1+ year composite experience.

Assessment and compliance

Aerospace Technician and Mechanic Aptitude Virtual Job Tryout: To be considered for this position you will be required to complete an assessment as part of the selection process. Compensation & benefits

We offer a Total Rewards package with competitive base pay and variable compensation opportunities. Program availability varies by factors including location, date of hire, and collective bargaining agreements. Pay is based on experience, qualifications, and market/business considerations.

  • Level B pay range: $54,000 - $64,000
  • Level C pay range: $61,200 - $64,500
