Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our maintenance team dedicated to servicing a diverse fleet of heavy equipment, industrial machinery, and commercial vehicles. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and related systems across various machinery including construction equipment, farm machinery, and transportation vehicles. Duties

  • Perform detailed diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, air brakes, suspension systems, and electrical components using schematics and OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) specifications.
  • Conduct repairs and maintenance on construction machinery, farm equipment, excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractor-trailers, and other heavy equipment.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and soldering techniques to execute repairs such as brake repairs, welding repairs, assembly work, and component replacements.
  • Conduct fabrication tasks as needed for custom repairs or modifications on heavy machinery.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal operation of equipment including alignment checks and tire service.
  • Troubleshoot electrical diagnostics issues involving HVAC systems, electrical wiring, sensors, and control modules.
  • Maintain accurate service records detailing repairs performed and parts used; interpret schematics for complex troubleshooting.
  • Assist with heavy lifting operations safely when handling large parts or assemblies.
  • Support customer service efforts by providing technical advice and ensuring timely completion of repair jobs.

Experience

  • Proven experience working as a Diesel Mechanic within a dealership or industrial environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of diesel engine diagnostics and repair techniques across various brands such as Caterpillar or OEM-specific equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with construction machinery maintenance including excavators, cranes, loaders, and bulldozers.
  • Familiarity with fabrication processes including welding and metalworking for custom repairs.
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic systems, air brake systems, suspension components, transmissions, and HVAC systems in heavy equipment.
  • Ability to read schematics accurately and utilize diagnostic tools for electrical troubleshooting.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment is advantageous but not mandatory; mechanical expertise is essential.
  • Proficiency in the use of hand tools, power tools, power lifts or hoists for heavy lifting tasks.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a customer-focused approach to service delivery.
  • Valid certifications in automotive or diesel technology are preferred; ongoing training in new technologies is encouraged.

Pay: $27.00 - $35.00 per hour
