SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of the material handler is to provide the movement of incoming and outgoing material and logistical support of the flow production and timely delivery of finished product. Partnership with Team Members to maximize the process of packing, shipping and receiving is thoroughly executed in a manner that meets company standards for safety, security and productivity.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Operate a forklift and or Tugger in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Accountability of all inbound and outbound material.
  • Responsibilities include packaging, planning, expediting orders, supplies and parts required to ensure timely production goals are met.
  • Loading and unloading material to the production lines and other designated locations.
  • Verifying accuracy of quantity and packaging quality of incoming/outgoing materials
  • Labeling every product and placing them accordingly
  • Keeping a well-maintained account of stock and inventory
  • Keeping all material handling equipment in top condition by conducting regular maintenance and thorough inspections
  • Collaborating with internal departments to regarding issues with deliveries and packaging.
  • Maintaining a safe work environment committed to safe business practices.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the warehouse and its surrounding areas.
  • Other duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certification in Forklift Operation
  • Computer skills are highly preferred, but not required.
  • Other skills required:
  • Must be capable of reading variable and attribute gaging. Blueprint reading may be required for some operations.
  • Must be capable of learning multiple jobs on assembly lines throughout the plant.
  • Must be capable of working all mandatory overtime including weekends.
  • Must be capable of reading written operator instructions.

Physical Demands And Work Environment

  • Continually required to stand and walk
  • Frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
  • Frequently required to bend, stoop, or kneel
  • Frequently work near moving mechanical parts
  • While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • Must be able to demonstrate forklift control in a close space both in the warehouse, line and in a trailer. A field test will be given and this is a mandatory requirement.
  • The employee must Frequently lift and /or move more than 30 pounds and up to 50 pounds up to a distance of four feet in the air.
  • The employee must also possess the physical strength to bail large loads of cardboard. Must also be capable of lifting part bins onto the parts storage racks.
  • Additional remarks regarding work environment:
  • The working area is heated and air conditioned. Work occasionally in sealant, water, oils, grease. Eye, Ear, Hand and Foot protection may be required.
  • Specialized equipment, machines, or vehicles used:
  • Responsibilities include using hand tools i.e. manual or electric screwdrivers, torque guns, rubber mallets, electronic hand drills, and other hand tools.
