SYNOPSIS:
This position is primarily responsible for supporting the preventative maintenance and basic hardware error troubleshooting of the automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS). The AS/RS Technician I will be expected to read system schematics and collaborate with logistics personnel and Viastore hotline support to assist in resolving system errors. This role includes documenting maintenance activities, error resolutions, and work orders in the facility’s CMMS software system. The AS/RS Technician I may also assist with general facility maintenance tasks as prioritized by the Facilities Manager. All facilities personnel are expected to perform their duties in a manner that ensures the safety of themselves and all employees. Success in this role requires strong teamwork, attention to detail, and effective communication skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in the preventative maintenance of the distribution center’s AS/RS conveyor equipment
Perform routine scheduled work orders on various pieces of equipment throughout the logistics automation system
Identify, troubleshoot correct logistics system failures to support the warehouse team
Work with OEM (Viastore other sub-contractors) to troubleshoot and implement corrective actions to system errors
Document and communicate the use of all spare parts for appropriate replenishment
Maintain statistics reports on system’s performance as needed
Communicate with sub-contractors (suppliers) for system upgrades, failures, and / or repairs, as needed
Provide awareness training of warehouse team leaders on system errors and troubleshooting of routine failures
Responsible to maintain update the preventative maintenance schedule in facilities CMMS software tool
Participate in Logistics Planning shift meetings as needed
Document “history logs” within the CMMS maintenance software for tracking work and add to the knowledge base for others’ awareness
At times, perform general facilities maintenance tasks as time permits and prioritized by the facilities manager
Follow all OSHA and company safety rules in all maintenance procedures
Follow all environmental guidelines when using / disposing of materials
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED.
Five (3-5) years’ experience in large logistics facility maintenance operations.
Ability to read and use engineering drawings.
Good understanding of controls and automated systems
Good decision-making skills.
Computer experience in Microsoft Office preferred.
Ability to prioritize workload.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Must be able to stand for 8 hours a day.
Must be able to lift 60 pounds.
Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to use own vehicle for local trips to Home Depot, etc. (with reimbursement).
Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and PRN overtime.
Must be willing to support the facility maintenance team in a collaborative environment.
Must be able to handle extreme temperatures.
Must be able to drive for up to 2 hours.
Must be able to speak and understand English to communicate verbally and in writing.
Regular and on-time attendance.
Must be able to climb up to 50 feet.
