Carpenter Technology Corporation is hiring a Specialist II – Lean Manufacturing at our Tanner, AL location. The role focuses on improving production processes and driving continuous improvement across the manufacturing floor.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Implement improvements to the production process flow.
  • Recommend hands‑on process improvements using Lean Manufacturing tools, with a focus on optimizing labor resources, systems, flow creation, 5S, and waste reduction.
  • Improve operations for increased safety, quality, productivity, efficiency and cost savings.
  • Support value‑stream mapping and Kaizen events.
  • Lead problem‑solving to root cause issues and recommend or implement corrective actions.
  • Provide manufacturing or other data to assist in the creation of control charts, identify process capabilities, and establish KPIs or targets to measure progress.
  • Assist in identifying ways to reduce production inefficiencies through recommendations for new processes, elimination of waste, machinery enhancements, and process improvements.
  • Aid with development and documentation of KPIs and systems designed to sustain and drive continuous improvement using Carpenter’s Operating Model.
  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

Travel

Ability to travel 25% to other locations within a specified region.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field preferred, plus 3+ years of successful Lean implementation experience with a proven record of sustainable results.
  • High School Diploma required, plus 5+ years of relevant Lean implementation experience.
  • Prior knowledge and practical experience in a manufacturing/industrial setting with a strong focus on Lean Manufacturing operations.
  • Extensive experience in an industrial manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Extensive job‑related experience with Lean manufacturing tools and methods.
  • Proven ability to drive continuous improvement by identifying and eliminating waste using applicable tools and analysis.
  • Proven coaching, facilitation, and organizational skills with a track record of successful change management.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • Self‑motivated with the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and a “can do” approach to work.
