Maintenance
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Maintenance and Facilities, the Maintenance HVAC Technician is responsible for the general maintenance and/or minor repairs to school department buildings and grounds and to do related tasks as required
Tasks/Duties
See that the buildings have adequate heating, lighting, and ventilation and are in good working condition:
- Inspects electrical, plumbing, heating and other equipment and makes minor to major repairs for their maintenance.
- Operates all machinery and equipment. Coordinates and/or installs, inspects, repairs and maintains the athletic fields, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and other related systems in all school locations.
- Inspects and maintains the heating, cooling and ventilation systems in all school locations
- Performs all general repairs such as, painting, patching walls, repairing doors, security hardware, hanging shelves. Also, the moving of school supplies, desks, shelving, file cabinets, chairs, etc. from one location to another as needed.
- Maintains all department property and equipment in good working order.
- Reports and responds to emergency calls for maintenance assistance e.g.security alarms, fire alarms, heat fails, flooding, emergency disasters or snow removal.
- May be called in to perform snow removal operations at required times including evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Will perform snow removal procedures to clear snow and salt icy areas including steps, walks, parking lots, driveways and roadways during inclement weather.
- Use basic construction skills such as carpentry and roofing.
- Other duties as needed may include general fixing or repairing specialized equipment.
- Receives and ships materials and equipment as needed.
- Moves and/or arranges other office equipment as needed.
- Performs maintenance and other related tasks as required.
- Conform to District policies regarding attendance and absences. Employee attendance must be adequate to perform the above listed essential job functions.

- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. without assistance
- Routinely required to work under inclement weather conditions
Preferred Skills/License
- MA. Oil burner and EPA CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSE
Skills & Abilities Necessary To Performance Of Essential Duties
- High school diploma or GED. Valid Driver’s License
- Two years of experience in general maintenance or other maintenance responsibilities that would include the ability to recognize electrical, plumbing, mechanical malfunctions or equipment failure.
- Considerable knowledge in maintenance supplies, equipment, materials and methods used in maintenance work.
- Ability to make repairs to buildings and equipment
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions, keep routine records and make reports.
- Ability to perform various clean up and maintenance tasks as required
- Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance in using equipment to complete assigned tasks.
