A private club in the heart of Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood is seeking a talented cook to join our well-trained team of culinary professionals. The Line Cook would report to the Executive Chef and have the ability develop skills in a great learning environment.
To succeed in this job, a candidate must be able to effectively undertake the following day-to-day duties and responsibilities:
- Setting up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies
- Cooking menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
- Answer, report and follow Executive Chef’s instructions
- Using kitchen knives and equipment such as grills, ovens and warmers in food preparation
- Preparing meals and food for service to meet the specification of members in a timely manner
- Ensuring proper food temperatures when cooking and proper storage afterward
- Keeping the workstation and kitchen equipment clean, organized and sanitized
The ideal candidate would have the following qualifications and experience requirements:
- Exceptional cooking skills
- Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
- Accuracy and speed in executive assigned tasks
- Familiarity with the best practices in the food service industry
- Knowledge of health and safety standards
- Ability to multitask and work quickly under pressure
- Attention to details and organizational skills
- Proven ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to work on your feet for most of the day and lift 30 pounds at a time
- Completion of vocational school or a two-year associates degree
- Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line cook, restaurant cook or prep cook
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour
