OR Scheduler

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1. Schedules all surgical procedures during regular scheduling hours ensuring that:

• Adequate time is allowed based on physician's request
• Procedure is scheduled according to surgeon's time preference within the available allotted time slots
• Adequate time is left between cases for proper room turnover.
• Cases are scheduled in a manner to increase efficiency; i.e., same types of cases in same room
• Guidelines for scheduling rooms are followed

2. Obtains and enters booking information from MedTel requesting surgical procedure; including

• Patient's name and age
• Operative procedure
• Estimated time required
• Assistant's name (if applicable)
• Preferred time and date
• Any special equipment or instrumentation required and/or requested
