Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Shop Helper with previous burn table experience to join our flame-cut steel shop team. This position supports daily shop operations by assisting machine operators, preparing steel parts, and ensuring orders are completed accurately and safely. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial environment and handling steel materials in varying weather conditions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist machine operators with loading and unloading steel plates from burn tables
• Clean, grind, and mark finished parts for packaging (majority of daily tasks)
• Inspect and maintain quality standards for completed parts
• Package finished jobs for customer delivery
• Assist with loading customer will-call orders
• Load and unload trucks and incoming deliveries
• Operate hand-held grinding tools, forklifts, and overhead cranes safely

Qualifications / Preferred Experience

• Previous experience working with burn tables in a steel shop environment required
• Experience operating forklifts and overhead cranes preferred
• Ability to read and understand shop orders and production details in English
• Basic math and measurement skills
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to work a full 40-hour work week in indoor and outdoor shop conditions, including heat and cold
• Dependable, safety-focused, and able to work well in a team environment
